A Magical Night in Downtown Smithfield

Christmas Tree Lighting and “Light Up Main” Event
Friday Night, November 30 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

This family-friendly holiday evening begins with the Woman’s Club of Smithfield’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Smithfield Times Gazebo. Enjoy concerts by local children’s choruses, the Soteria Christian Center Singers, and a visit from a “real” Christmas Elf.  Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

Immediately afterwards…

Downtown merchants will illuminate their shops along Main Street as the Smithfield High School Drum Corps marches by. Join us for our very first annual Light Up Main Event – sure to become one of your family and friend’s favorite holiday traditions!

Participating shops, restaurants and attractions will remain open until 8:00 p.m. for shopping, relaxing or taking in Smithfield’s historic attractions.

Vote for your favorite light display among our merchants for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to a Smithfield Historic District business. Ballots will be available that evening. Turn your completed ballot into the Visitor Center (319 Main Street). The winner will be announced on the “Visit Smithfield VA” Facebook page on Monday, Dec. 3.

Be sure to stop by the Isle of Wight Museum to meet Old St. Nick himself between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
