Christmas in Smithfield Weekend

Experience the charm & warmth of the Season you thought had vanished long ago. With an Antiques Show and holiday floral workshops, a Christmas street market, holiday parade, Santa Claus and innumerable small town events hosted by church and civic groups, Christmas in Smithfield brings cherished holiday memories to life.
Although we won’t be offering the Homes Tours this year, Christmas in Smithfield 2017 is offering plenty of festive holiday events planned around the Antiques Show including our “St. Nick’s Pick” Raffle where you can win dinner and an overnight stay at the Smithfield Inn. House Tours will return in 2018! Proceeds from Christmas in Smithfield go to the 1750 Isle of Wight Courthouse, a program of Historic Smithfield, Inc.
Seating is very limited for the floral workshops and Colonial Tea, so don’t wait – stop by the Visitor Center today to reserve your spot!
Antiques Show & Sale at the Smithfield Center
220 North Church Street in downtown Smithfield.
Saturday, December 2, 2017: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, December 3, 2017: 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m.
The Antiques Show will feature 25 quality vendors from across the region and run Saturday and Sunday. Crystal and glass repair services will also be offered.
Admission: $6. Tickets may be purchased on-site, the day of the show at the Smithfield Center or at the Visitor Center at 319 Main Street (cash or check only). Tickets now on sale.

St. Nick’s Picks Raffle – a “choose-your-own-prize” raffle
Your admission to the Antiques Show includes one ticket for a chance on any of our prizes – each donated by one of our Antiques Show vendors. Select the prize you wish to bid on by placing your ticket in the box in front of that prize. Enter as often as you like by purchasing additional tickets. You do not need to be present to win.
ALL ENTRIES will be eligible to win our Grand Prize, dinner and an overnight stay at the Smithfield Inn!
“Deck the Halls with Christmas Greenery” Floral Workshops
1750 Isle of Wight Courthouse lawn (outdoor tents), 130 Main Street, Smithfield.
Join local floral professionals, Jason Camper and Joseph McCain from Fleur de Fou, and floral consultants Edwin Little and Anne Coke as they present three workshops on holiday decorations. Choose one workshop or attend all three! PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PRUNERS AND GLOVES!
Christmas Centerpiece Workshop
Saturday, December 2, 10 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Design a table arrangement or centerpiece using local greenery. Embellish your design with fruit and berries for a Colonial look. Complete your design with a festive bow.
$30 per person. 30 prepaid reservations accepted for this workshop.
Holiday Swag Workshop
Saturday, December 2, 12 noon – 1:00 p.m.
Create a work of art for you wall, door or even table with Christmas greenery. Embelish the swag with provided berries, fruits or ribbons.
$40 per person. 30 prepaid reservations accepted for this workshop.
Christmas Wreath Workshop
Saturday, December 2, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Embellish a pre-formed wreath to your liking to hand on your door or garden gate.
$45 per person. 30 prepaid reservations accepted for this workshop.

Sunday, December 3 2 Seatings: 1:00 to 2:30 and 3:00 to 4:30.

Horse & Carriage Rides

Enjoy a leisurely ride in a festive holiday horse-drawn carriage through beautiful, historic downtown Smithfield. Board the carriage and purchase tickets the day of the event at the Visitor Center.

“Patriot in a Petticoat” Shadow Puppet Show
1750 Isle of Wight Courthouse, 130 Main Street, Smithfield.
Saturday, December 2, every hour on the hour from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Experience an ancient method of storytelling through the use of shadow puppets. The story: While her husband is serving in the army a young woman and her family saves the town’s history before a British raid can destroy it. Donations accepted for the 1750 Isle of Wight Courthouse.
A Colonial Christmas Concert at Historic St. Luke’s Church featuring the Smithfield High School Choraliers Ensemble

Saturday, December 2at 4:00 and at 7:00 p.m.
Get into the holiday spirit as the Smithfield High School Choraliers Ensemble takes you on a trip back in time to the colonial days with songs from the period. Proceeds benefit both Historic St. Luke’s and the Smithfield High School Choraliers Ensemble. Tickets are $10 per person. Seating is limited. The Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce will host holiday displays of operating privately owned Lionel toy trains, from the 1920s up to the present.
