On Tuesday, May 9th we celebrated National Tourism Month by recognizing our 2017 Hospitality Heroes & Community Ambassadors and announcing the winner of our LOVEwork Design Contest.
2017 Hospitality Heroes
Our Hospitality Heroes are front-line hospitality professionals and volunteers who have been nominated by their peers, visitors and managers for their dedication to offering outstanding customer service to our visitors to Smithfield & Isle of Wight County. Congratulations and thank you!
Special Congratulations to our 2017 Hospitality Hero of the Year – Sue Sadler with the Smithfield Station. Sue was nominated by Randy Pack. She’s been with the Smithfield Station for 29 years, starting work there just two years after the Station opened – and training Randy when he first began working there! The Station hosts many business travelers and among her many other duties, Sue takes good care of these folks. As Randy explains, “Being away from family is difficult but part of the job for so many visiting Smithfield. While our guests are away from home tending to business, Sue makes them feel right at home. What could be more hospitable than that?” Thank you Sue for your commitment to providing outstanding customer service for 29+ years!
2017 Community Ambassadors
Our Community Ambassadors are local leaders and citizens who have supported our local tourism industry by bringing their groups to Smithfield and Isle of Wight County for meetings, conferences, special events and tours. Congratulations and thank you!
LOVEworks Design Contest
This year, Smithfield & Isle of Wight Tourism sponsored a contest for the creation of our very own LOVEwork. We announced our winning designer, Meagan Pugh on the May 9th event. Meagan will receive a $500 cash prize!
The LOVEworks program is a state-wide branding initiative sponsored by Virginia Tourism Corporation and designed to promote family-friendly vacation experiences in Virginia and the “Virginia is for Lovers” message. Congratulations Meagan and be watching for our LOVEwork to show up somewhere soon!
Thank you to all those in the community and beyond who work so hard to support the tourism industry and its stakeholders in Smithfield & Isle of Wight County!
