Opened on November 14, 2016, Kevin and Jessica Blair, owners of The Virginia Company were looking to provide an alternate dining experience to help “fill a void” they felt was present in the wine and food market in Isle of Wight County. They were looking to provide fine food with great service at a price that was reasonable, a nice wine selection in a relaxed atmosphere, and the option to experience it all right up until midnight.
The Blairs also own the restaurant Hell’s Kitchen in Norfolk, but have called Smithfield home for the past nine years and love the area. Being area residents, it was natural that they would be looking for an opportunity to open their second restaurant a bit closer to home.
When the “Bridges” property became available on Rt 17, centrally located next to the James River Bridge, the Blairs felt this was the perfect spot to open The Virginia Company. The Company specializes in “Fine Food & Strong Drink” – featuring steak and seafood dishes including – but not limited to crab cakes, filets, salmon, seafood nachos. The Virginia Company serves the “Strong Drink,” comprised of a selection of hand-crafted cocktails, craft beers and a quality wine list.
The Virginia Company staff enjoys meeting a wide variety of new customers at the restaurant from families to business professionals and everything in-between. One of Kevin’s favorite parts of the restaurant is getting to know The Company “regulars.” “We want people to feel comfortable and welcome at The Virginia Company.”
Kevin, a Yorktown native and his wife, Jessica have two daughters, Ashley and Carabelle. Along with these two girls, they have two others Bluebelle, the dog and Charlotte, the cat. The family enjoys traveling and experiencing new places. They hope one day to take a few weeks to explore Europe. They hold the SPCA and Mill Swamp Indian Horse Ranch in Isle of Wight County near their hearts.
Please welcome this new addition to the community and be sure to make a point to experience The Virginia Company personally. It has been years in the making, you won’t be disappointed.
“I am very passionate about the restaurant industry. The Virginia Company is a concept I have wanted to open for five years. The staff and I all feel that we are building something very special in Carrollton that we can all be very proud off. Thank you to everyone for coming to visit and I assure you great things are coming.” ~ Kevin Blair
