Relics from the HeART

Relics at the Smithfield Firehouse 1939 Shops

  April 2016

What’s the hottest ticket in town for a gal’s night out, a mother/daughter, sisters, or besties treat? The Wine & Craft Night at the Smithfield Winery, hosted by Relics, Smithfield Firehouse 1939! Of course, guys are always welcome too.

Here’s how it works. You show up armed with a glue gun at the Smithfield Winery at 6:30 p.m. on the night of the class. The ladies of Relics will provide all the other supplies you’ll need, and the winery will give you a bottle of wine to enjoy while you take a class and create a one-of-a-kind re-purposed treasure. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $65 per person.

You may have missed the very first class held on March 14th, but the ladies are busy planning the next one now – so stay tuned to the Relics Facebook page because reservations are necessary and classes fill up fast – within a day or so!

But there’s more exciting news from Relics!

How does hand-made, signature clothing, purses and jewelry designed by the ladies themselves sound? If you’ve been inside their exquisite shop, you know the new line of products will be just the right mix of elegant, comfortable and chic. And of course, all the products will be made from re-purposed clothing, fabrics and other materials! Can’t wait to see a sample? Head to Relics and ask to see their purses made from lace slips and fabric remnants. That will give you a taste of what’s coming – simply gorgeous!

Relics owners Wendy Addison and Debi Wilkins love of antiques gave them the concept for their shop. Wendy describes their vision: “Rescuing a forgotten and neglected treasure, having the ability to see through the dust and grime with the vision to create a new, stylish, functional design from it. We see the potential in an otherwise ‘cast off’ piece of history. That’s our gift. The end result is something special, something with a past, a story, something unique possessing a sturdy and true test of time. Something, in our opinion, leagues above a mass produced item.”

Wendy says of opening Relics in Spring of 2015, “We wanted to create a dreamy, magical, ethereal and enchanting shopping experience, a place that appeals to all your senses. A place that makes you stop, take a minute out of your busy day to breathe and say ‘ahhhh’.”  And they have!
